We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Specialist Chemical Pathology department encompasses Special Biochemistry, Endocrinology, Trace Metals and Chromatography and provides laboratory services for 3 national programmes (Bowel Screening, Newborn Screening and Antenatal Screening).

This role will involve working across different sections of the department. Primary tasks for the role will involve pre-analytical work including extraction and preparation of samples, analytical work including automated and manual technologies and general admin work.

The position is full time involving rostered shifts Monday to Sunday.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

The department is busy with strict turnaround time and quality requirements. Applicants will need to possess excellent organisational, computer and communication skills and be flexible with working hours. The role requires a person with a skillset including attention to detail, excellent time management, accuracy and the ability to work as part of a team. Experience with both automated and manual methodologies and specialised techniques would be advantageous.
