**The Forklift Operator is responsible for working safely and efficiently, including but not limited to**:

- Receiving and moving materials ensuring handling is kept to a minimum.
- Sort different types of scrap metal based on categories, such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and separate them into appropriate designated areas or containers.
- Maintain an orderly and clean yard by arranging materials, stacking, and storing scrap metal
in designated areas to optimize space and facilitate easy access.
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks on equipment and tools used in the yard, including
cleaning, lubricating, and reporting any malfunctions or damages.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
(PPE) and following safe work practices to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials, weights, and other relevant information to ensure proper documentation and tracking.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members, supervisors, and drivers to coordinate
tasks, share information, and ensure a smooth workflow.
- Follow environmental regulations and guidelines related to scrap metal recycling, including the proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials.
- Identify and suggest process improvements, efficiency enhancements, or cost-saving measures to optimize yard operations.
- Carry out housekeeping tasks as directed and to a high standard.
- Ensure all health and safety and PPE requirements are met.
- Carry out any other tasks as directed by management and to the required standards.

**Skills and Experience Required**:

- Familiarity with forklift machines, equipment and associated tools.
- Proficiency in safely operating and maintaining the forklift.
- Ability to perform repairs and replacements as required.
- Wheels Tracks and Rollers license
- Physically fit with the ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 20kg.
- Knowledge of yard safety rules and methods
- Time management skills
- Reliable and hardworking
- Relevant work experience is preferred, but not compulsory

**Qualifications**:

- Forklift license is preferred
- Wheels Tracks and Rollers license is desirable,but not required.
- Some experience working in a workshop, construction site, or recycling factory OR qualification is preferred but not compulsory.
- Class 4 license will be an advantage but not compulsory.
- Relevant forklift operating qualification is preferred but not compulsory.

**Hours of Work**:
A minimum of 40 hours per week is guaranteed.

**Drug & Alcohol Testing**:
New hire and random drug/alcohol testing is proudly completed to help keep our workspaces safe.
