**Te wero - The Challenge**
We are currently seeking 2 Democracy Advisors, one as a permanent position and a second as a fixed term for approx. 12 months.
Our Democracy Advisors need to have their fingers on the pulse across the organisation. As part of a small but highly effective team, you will work across the business with a particularly close relationship with our senior leadership team and elected members. Applicants need to demonstrate they can foster credible relationships to be a sought after advisor.
You'll be talking the language of Standing Orders, Code of Conduct, Local Government Act, LGOIMA, Delegations. You’ll be providing specialist and high-quality support and advice to elected members and staff on governance matters, agenda, minutes, meeting procedures and decision-making processes that facilitate effective management of Council, Committee and Community Board meetings. You’ll also be involved in supporting governance and local democratic projects such as local body elections, by-elections, representation reviews and continuous improvement initiatives within the team and wider organisation.
Our environment is very busy with a huge breadth of activity and diversity. We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude, exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively and prioritise under pressure.
Democracy Advisors are expected to be trusted advisors in all aspects to staff, community and elected members alike to ensure that our organisation is fostering good decision making within a highly legislated context.

The salary for this position is **Grade 15 **within Council's salary structure **($75,115 - $88,371 **per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
