**Who we are**The Christchurch City Mission, Te Whare Mīhana Ki Ōtautahi, is a social services agency that helps anyone who needs it regardless of their circumstances. With more than 130 full and part-time staff, plus approximately 200 volunteers, the Christchurch City Mission is a growing organisation, providing a range of essential services across the city and beyond. The Alcohol and Other Drug services at the Christchurch City Mission are responsive to the needs of clients who present with alcohol and drug, and co-existing mental health conditions wanting to make changes in their substance misuse. We provide residential and home-based detoxification, individual youth and adult counselling, a women’s day programme, community mental health nurse support, and supported accommodation in a community setting.

**About the Position**Due to some of our current team being successful in internal promotions, we have some exciting opportunities arising at Thorpe House, our residential withdrawal management service. We are looking for a casual support person, with the possibility of a permanent part-time position becoming available.

In this rewarding role you will cover a full range of client management needs, house duties and databasing, with training and professional development being key parts of the role. Casual team members work to provide cover for permanent staff, working across the full range of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Successful applicants will have knowledge and experience working with people who have substance misuse and co-existing mental health conditions, and may suit someone from a nursing or social work background. They will also have self management qualities and excellent communication skills. Due to mandates under the COVID-19 Public Health Order, all employees at the Christchurch City Mission are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
