**About the role**

The role is responsible for the strategy, architecture, and direction of the data and analytics components of our Digital Platform. This is an exciting time to join LIC, as we embark on a transformational journey to build a contemporary technology platform, leveraging public cloud offerings, to enable a focus on delivering valuable information and digital products to our customers and partners.

Key focus areas include:

- Understanding and reviewing our current data warehousing, ETL and reporting architecture.
- Partnering closely with key business stakeholders to evolve the Data Strategy.
- Ensuring a fit-for-purpose Data Architecture solution is delivered.
- Provide technology leadership to the data engineering and BI teams.
- Work in an agile way with data engineering and BI teams on the delivery of the roadmap.
- Ensure adequate due diligence, including considering the cost, strategic contribution and technical debt of solutions.
- Maintain professional currency and keep abreast of wider industry developments in cloud data architectures.
- Work closely with Product Owners and development teams to ensure that the data architecture is well understood and effectively delivered.

**About You.**

LIC have a strong R&D capability, which needs to be supported by a data architecture that enables their work through big data and machine learning.

You'll also confidently demonstrate:

- A solid working background as a Senior Data Engineer, Data Architect, Cloud Architect, or relevant experience through technical leadership roles.
- Proven experience in traditional data warehousing as well as modern cloud data architectures.
- Experience with Snowflake, Fivetran, Coalesce, Power BI / Tableau, and other related tools is preferred.
- Experience in data analytics with some exposure to Machine Learning environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills giving you the ability to share and communicate ideas to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear concise language.
- Ability to think strategically, to conceptualise, define, design and plan product and data architecture roadmaps, including the articulation of trade-offs and risk.
- A Degree in a relevant discipline and / or equivalent experience in Software engineering.
