Everyone makes their space their own - whether it be a BYO device, comfy cushion or plant We’ve also got offices in Wellington and Sydney, to cater to some of our clients in different regions. **The Role** As the Chief Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to the Open Source practice here at ClearPoint. This encompasses both outward technical leadership into ClearPoint clients and industry, and internal leadership activities contributing to the growth and success of the Open Source Engineering practice and its people, in alignment with ClearPoint values and strategy. We’re looking for a pragmatic, self-motivated team player who is keen on continuous learning as well as helping others in their sphere of influence. **What you will be responsible for**: - Setting the technical vision and direction for ClearPoint Engineering Services for the Open Source Engineering Practice - Leading the engineering team day to day on the provision of technical solutions, including being able to get into the details of the design, development and quality assurance - Leading and expanding key engineering areas within the Practice that support client’s projected needs - Leading the professional and technical development of the engineering team within the practice and grow the practice leaders within the practice. - Supporting all other ClearPoint Business Units as a technical SME - Building senior external relationships with CIOs and technical leaders - Supporting the GMs and BD teams to bring in significant new business. - Proactively promoting ClearPoint to attract and retain talent, both permanent staff and associates. **What technical skills you will need**: - Extensive 7+ years of Core Java development experience - Well versed with the Spring / Spring Boot framework - Proficiency in working with databases like MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL, and adept in database design - Thorough understanding of modern web and cloud architectures, including architectural and design principles - Strong expertise in designing and implementing microservices, with hands-on experience in web services like SOAP and/or REST - Familiarity with modern web design principles, frameworks, and development methodologies, particularly SOA and/or API first design approach - Skilled in crafting automated unit and integration testing strategies, with a track record of successful implementation - Knowledgeable and experienced in frontend JavaScript Libraries such as Angular, ReactJS, Vue.js, etc. - Proficient in Container technologies & practices like Kubernetes, Docker - Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery systems such as Jenkins, TeamCity, VSTS - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and/or MS Azure - Practiced Agile development methods, tools, and processes such as SCRUM, FDD, BDD, TDD. **"Less technical" skills and** **attributes you** **will need to succeed**: - Excellent communications skills - written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation - Committed to delivery of high-quality solutions - Required to be open to obtain and share knowledge - Both be a team player and self-motivated/self-managing - Ability to make formal and informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff, and customers - Attention to detail and solution-oriented approach - Experience managing multiple competing commitments within high intensity and fast-moving environments - Comfortable with breaking down complicated requirements - Be a good problem solver **What’s on offer?** - Work on complex, interesting, ch
