Ngā Taonga is Aotearoa New Zealand’s audiovisual archive. We save and cherish the stories, creativity and history of Aotearoa New Zealand in sound and moving images. **Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role**
This is a unique opportunity to lead strategic collection management within Aotearoa audiovisual archive. In the role of Pou Kohinga Taonga, you will be an advocate for increasing access to our taonga and will drive the collection management process to ensure that there is greater accessibility to whānau, hapū, iwi, and all of Aotearoa. Leading a team of tier 3 managers through process improvement will enable a unified approach to collection and acquisition activities. As an engaging people leader, you will bring kaimahi along on the journey while weaving in a kaupapa-centred approach to collection management.
**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
You will be passionate about Aotearoa unique taonga and offer an operational practice background with experience in Collections/ Record Management/ Arts and Heritage. Utilising your strategic mindset, you can proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve/deliver upon measurable outcomes. This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate strong people leadership capability and work in close collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders.
**Key requirements**
- Minimum of 5 years’ people leadership experience.
- Experience in leadership and governance at a strategic level.
- Experience managing and/or delivering technical archival operations (or similar) as a component of an effective customer service value chain
- Archival management systems and best practice (desirable).
- Understanding and awareness of the role mātauranga Māori plays in managing an archive that includes taonga Māori.
- Awareness and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi.
