Our Community & Public Health team in Timaru are
looking for a great communicator to join us in our Liquor Licensing and
Smokefree Enforcement Team as a Health Promoter
You - ll work within a team of health promoters and health
protection officers to improve population health outcomes of the South
Canterbury community. You will work effectively with other key agencies such as
NZ Police and District Councils. We have
a great team with a broad focus on improving the health of the population of
South Canterbury, while working with specific projects and communities. This is
a permanent full-time opportunity working 40hrs per week across Monday
- Friday, with occasional after hours work.
You - ll have
previous experience in a regulatory role or environment and working with
legislation, along with a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working
bi-culturally.

In this role, you

**will be responsible for**:

- Monitoring and reporting on the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 in

respect to liquor licensing and smokefree enforcement;
- Working closely with NZ Police and District Councils - Liquor Licensing
Inspectors
- Participate in Planning & Implementation of health promotion programmes
as decided with wider team;
- Provide Health Promotion advice and support to internal & external
stakeholders;
- Contributing to resource development;
- Working in partnership with Māori to deliver culturally appropriate
programmes based on the Treaty of Waitangi and partnership models.Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills and Experience
- An awareness of the health,

educational and social environment that services operate in, and the ability to
identify opportunities within this environment;
- A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working
bi-culturally. Basic Te Reo would be advantageous;
- Previous experience in a
regulatory role or environment and working with legislation;
- Investigative and
interviewing skills, along with proven ability to prepare detailed reports;
- Pre-established connections
across the South Canterbury community is advantageous;
- Excellent written and
verbal communication skills;
- A current drivers licence
