**About the Service**

**Outpatients at Thames Hospital is looking for an experienced senior administrator to join their team. This is a great opportunity and would ideally suit someone with medical administration experience, in particular someone with medical booking experience.

Thames is a modernised 50 bed secondary hospital, 100 kilometres north of Hamilton. We have a 24-hour emergency department, inpatient unit, ambulatory surgery, outpatient clinics and rehabilitation services. The hospital also provides laboratory and radiology services, including CT.

It is classified as a rural hospital and is located at the foot of the beautiful Coromandel peninsula, with specialty services provided by our tertiary hospital Waikato. We serve the Thames, Coromandel Peninsula and Paeroa areas.

We pride ourselves on the provision of quality and patient focussed care and work in a true inter-disciplinary way with clinical and allied health team members. The hospital is an integral part of the community.

**About the Role**

**Key responsibilities**:

- Liaising with patients and whanau on the phone to arrange appointments for procedures that best suits their needs.
- Booking surgical appointments for patients.
- Informing medical staff and other health professionals of appointment details.
- Liaising with patients or whanau about what to expect during procedures.
- Other administration tasks such as responding to routine appointment enquiries.

**About you**
- Exceptional administration skills, coupled with a keen eye for details and unwavering accuracy.
- A high level of competence in Microsoft Office, and tech savvy.
- A friendly and approachable demeanour, along with a positive attitude.
- Effective time management and the ability to juggle multiple tasks seamlessly.
- Superb communication and written skills to ensure effective interaction with our dynamic team.
- A love of learning and willingness to learn new skills and seek help when needed.
- A commitment to excellence, adaptability to change, and an eagerness to embrace new challenges.
- Administration experience in a large organisation.
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action. Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Proven experience in a Booking Clerk role _is preferred_ but not essential._
- Experience in a health environment or knowledge of clinical terminology would be _an advantage_, but not essential. Training will be provided as part of the role._
