Progressive Meats are looking for staff who are a cut above the rest We are a leading edge processor of Lamb and Beef in the sunny Hawke's Bay.

Full-time permanent Slaughterers are needed for 2026 and beyond.

Two-years previous experience required, just bring your positive, proactive attitude and you will go far. We are Keen to provide you with the skills and experience to go far in the butchery trade.

Roles available across our departments in Lamb/Beef further processing.

**Tasks and responsibilities of a Slaughterer include**:

- Receiving animals to yard
- Operating Stunning Equipment
- Severing ovine/bovine heads
- Removing skin/hide
- Evisceration
- Sorting and handling by-products
- Dispatching carcasses

Department 10-hour Shift start times Monday to Friday are:

- Lamb Slaughter _Dayshift 5:45 am, Nightshift 3:30 pm_
- Beef Slaughter _Dayshift 5:45 am_
- Weekend availability required over Spring/Summer and Autumn._
- There is a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours of work per week._

**These roles require**:

- Two years relevant experience
- A genuine Interest in a career in the Primary Industry specializing in Meat Processing
- High level of physical and mental fitness
- Great attitude and work ethic
- Good communication skills
- Reliable means of transport
- Be able to pass a Drug Screen and Pre-employment Medical
- An ACC Pre-Employment Check Report
- A Ministry of Justice Check
