Our Orthopaedic Service delivers cares for patients of all ages covering acute surgical and non-surgical care emergency, trauma, and elective care. Our service works across Christchurch and Burwood campuses.
Orthopaedics delivers follow-up care, appointments and specialty clinics and provide a variety of services including wound management, casting, splinting and patient education.
The team provides Orthopaedic Acute Care in the Emergency Department in Waipapa and follow up care in the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department in Christchurch Hospital.

This busy and diverse role is responsible for leading the administration team to effectively and efficiently support patient flow This role reports to the Service Manager and is responsible for driving and changing the culture of the service to align with Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury values.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead and supervise the administrative team
- Coach and mentor staff
- Ensure appropriate cover for the department (annual and sick leave)
- Developing a patient focused team culture
- Managing and improving processes and systems
- Maintain communication with clinical and non-clinical staff
- Managing equal work load across the team
- Project management
- Manage the referrals and waitlists across the service with the support of the service manager and clinical director
**Your skills should include**:
- Leadership or supervisor experience
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Experience working with data management systems
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail orientation and accuracy skills
**Desirable Skills**:
- Healthcare system experience (SIPICS)
- Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Experience in the health sector or related
- Qualification in people management or business/information processes
