We are looking for a passionate consultant Paediatrician to join our dynamic team. The Paediatrician will provide comprehensive whānau centred care to inpatient and outpatients both in the general paediatric and the Child Development service. The successful applicant will be part of the acute and on call roster leading care for paediatric and neonatal patients. They will have the opportunity to contribute and gain experience and expertise in a broad range of child services supported by our experienced and highly supportive multidisciplinary teams.
Experience in the provision of acute neonatal care at level 2 is required. Expertise in conducting child development assessment including Griffiths assessments is desirable. Opportunities for training in this area could be provided. This post will suit someone with a broad range of skills and could be tailored to support subspecialty interest.
This will be conducted in accordance with the policies and guidelines of Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley District. You will support, lead and supervise junior medical staff within the service and are required to work collaboratively with team members to provide services in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients referred.

Our Child Health Service has an enthusiastic team of 11 full and part-time general, developmental, adolescent and community paediatricians, providing a range of general and sub-specialty paediatric services at Hutt Hospital.
We have a Children's ward, Level 2 neonatal unit, Paediatric Outpatients with a range of local and visiting sub-specialists and a comprehensive Child Developmental Service. We have close ties and work closely with the Paediatric and neonatal teams at the Wellington campus.
Hutt Hospital is a teaching hospital with medical students from the University of Otago rotating through the paediatric department. We supervise, and are accredited for basic and advanced paediatric specialty registrar training through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Moū ' About you
- Vocationally registered in Paediatrics with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRACP or equivalent qualification and be able to register for with the MCNZ
- Work effectively in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training in general paediatric and neonatal care
