As the business grows, and the work demands get larger, we’re now in the position to hire a **Power Technician**, who may also enjoy being on-call, on our faults-roster.
The position of Power Technician encompasses the following major functions and key responsibilities/result areas:
- Installation, fault finding and repair of underground cables and overhead installations
- Assisting with the end-to-end generation requirements for allocated jobs/projects
- Managing substation, transformers and switchgear maintenance, repairs and installations
- Undertakes power systems - protection duties
- Provides assistance to overhead and underground teams.
**You will also be responsible for the installation, repairs and maintenance of transformers, switchgear, and substations, as you**:
- Install transformers, switchgear high and low voltage, service pillars
- Undertake the repairs of transformers, breakers, tap changes and substations maintenance
- Inspect of transformers, pillar boxes and lines
- Perform repairs on LV, service pillars and HV equipment
Safety is your number one priority, and with your experience in a similar role, you know how to put safety first, to ensure the ongoing safety of our community, our staff and our customers.
- A minimum qualification of Level 5 NZQA or equivalent
- Full NZ Class 1 Drivers licence
- Significant Electrical/Mechanical design and installation experience
- Previous experience working on an electrical distribution network
You may also:
- Be a qualified Electrician (desired)
- Hold a class two drivers licence (desired)
- Be trained in the use of EWP vehicle (desired)
