Steel Fixer

Job Description:
Main duty
- To install steel reinforcing bars to support and reinforce concrete structures.

Daily tasks include:

- Reading and understanding engineering plans and drawings
- Determining the required materials
- Setting out the steel bars as per the drawings
- Lifting and carrying steel bars into place
- Tying steel reinforcement bars into place with wires
- Fitting spacer blocks and chairs
- Using hand and power tools to cut and bend bars
- Complying with company policies and procedures
- Cooperating and following instructions from the leading hand to ensure deadlines are met and to achieve the required quality of work
- Carrying out the work with careful attention to detail and ensuring quality standards are met
- Carrying out the work with a focus on Health and Safety (for you, the team, and the site)

Qualifications:

- Self motivated with a positive attitude
- Good level of physical fitness
- Strong practical and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working at heights
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather and in cramped conditions
- Time management skills
- At least 1 year relevant experience is required for this role

Main location of work is Palmerston North City, but employees may be required to work at other cities/locations within New Zealand.

**Salary**: From $30.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
