**What you will be doing | Ngā whāinga matua**
You will provide technical support to our dedicated research team. This will include:

- Assisting with running, maintaining and collecting data from field trials and laboratory-based experiments as well as providing technical observations and comments to assist with formal reporting
- Providing technical assistance in research such as tree care, disease monitoring, experimental work, pruning, laboratory assessment and microscope work
- Using your time management skills to facilitate projects to be completed on time and to a high standard and working across many project areas
- Working within our Health, safety and wellness guidelines and following our strict Biosecurity and compliance procedures at all times (relevant training will be given).

**What you will bring | Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako**
To be successful in this role, the minimum qualifications/skills required are:

- Bachelor of Science in plant pathology, microbiology, ecology, horticulture or equivalent and/or relevant practical experience
- Experience and competency in basic pathology skills, including media preparation, isolations from diseased material, and use of microscopes
- Knowledge of aseptic technique
- Basic knowledge of molecular-pathology techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, DNA sequencing)
- Flexibility and a willingness to engage in local travel for extensive field experimentation as required, sometimes involving extended hours and overnight stays by prior arrangement.
