Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 ākonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised and authentic learning programmes through distance education from early childhood to NCEA Level 3, including to young adult and adult learners.

Our vision is to enable our ākonga to achieve their educational and personal goals, empowering them to become engaged and contributing members of their communities.

**Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position**:
We have 4 fixed-term part-time Kaimaanaki (Learning Advisor) positions to undertake the specific pastoral care deliverables/elements of a Kaiako role working with a group of our full time ākonga.

Kaiako at Te Kura have a pastoral care responsibility for ākonga; this group is known as a rōpū manaaki. Manaaki - means to protect, look after, and care for something or someone. The role of the kaimanaaki is to be respectful and generous in providing support and care to ākonga and their whānau.

Kaimanaaki work with ākonga and their whānau both kanohi-ki-kanohi (face to face) and online to support and develop a flexible and adaptable programme of learning, which is based on ākonga passions, interests and learning goals.

The primary focus of this role is pastoral care for ākonga, there may be times when flexibility is required to support teaching or other duties to help ensure the needs of our ākonga are met.

You will:

- **Have a New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate**
- Have an interest in authentic learning
- Model current pedagogy and are always coming up with new ideas
- Be enthusiastic, collaborative, understand the key competencies of the New Zealand curriculum assessment practice
- Be committed to improving education outcomes for students.
