An exciting opportunity has become available to work as an Occupational Therapist in our Whare Whakaue Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit in Rotorua. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team

This is an exciting opportunity as we continue to embed our new model of care Te Ara Tauwhirotanga: pathways that lead us to act with kindness. Te Ara Tauwhirotanga is the product of extensive co-design with over 400 participants from the Lakes community. Te Ara Tauwhirotanga model of care acknowledges that health, wellbeing and opportunities for healing and recovery are a basic human right and that this can only occur when local, regional and national systems work well together. The model aligns to He Ara Oranga and is designed around three central Pou (pillars) of Tikanga (Values), Tangata (People) and Taiao (Environment).
Mō te tūranga / About the role
**As a Registered Occupational Therapist you will**:
Demonstrate strong assessment skills, experienced in a variety of interventions and be able to work within a skilled multi-disciplinary team.
Have ability to connect and build a trusting relationship with people from a range of life experiences and cultural backgrounds.
The role will include a mix of generic care coordination as well as profession specific interventions, i.e. functional assessments. May also involve working with people as they transition from the inpatient service to the community.
Have ability to engage in contemporary practice with an equity focus in order to achieve improved outcomes for Māori accessing care
Have excellent interpersonal skills with a strong client focus, flexible approach and ability to remain calm under pressure.
Fulltime (1.0 FTE available in total)
Up to 40 hours per week, working business hours (Mon - Fri 8am to 4:30pm)
About you
A minimum of two years post graduate experience in mental health is preferred, and experience working in an inpatient setting is desirable.
Annual Practising Certificate & Registered with the appropriate regulatory body
Salary range
$59,035 to $83,030 pro-rated to hours worked.
