**Mō tēnei mahi | About this job**

Join our team as a **full-time (37.5 hours per week)** **Kaiako: Kāwai Raupapa - Certificate of Māori and Indigenous Art - Toi Paematua **based in Kawerau, where you will inspire tauira. This position starts in January 2025.

As Kaiako, you will guide tauira on their artistic journeys, blending technical skill development with the rich traditions of Māori and Indigenous arts. Teaching responsibilities include crafting engaging lesson plans, delivering interactive learning experiences, responding to the diverse needs of tauira, and supporting their progress and achievement.

**Mōu | About you**

We are seeking an individual with both the expertise and passion for these art forms and a commitment to indigenous teaching practices.

You will also bring with you:

- Maunga Kura Toi (Bachelor of Māori Art - L7) with a focus on an appropriate kaupapa Toi (Whakairo, Ngā Mahi ā te Whare Pora, Toi Ataata, Mau Rākau, Performing Arts), or equivalent, that demonstrates holding or showing equivalence for NZQA standards assessed in this programme
- New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent
- Either attest equivalence for NZQA standards required to assess and moderate this programme OR hold the NZ Certificate in Assessment Practice (L4)
- Full and current NZ Driver License
- Minimum two years of proven experience teaching adult learners
- Proven experience and expertise in Māori art world with specific skills in relevant kaupapa toi
- Able to understand and converse in te reo Māori at an intermediate level

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
