**Te āhua o Te Tūrunga - The nature of the position**

The Kaitautoko Māori - Māori Development will provide informed advice and delivery support to the business to develop partnerships with Māori and to embed a Te Ao Māori approach into our work.

The Kaitautoko Māori will lead the development and roll out of a bicultural development programme and help establish partnerships with iwi and iwi Māori groups.

They will also be responsible for supporting projects within the department and coordinating Māori Advisory board meetings.

- Competency in Te Reo me ona tikanga
- Effective relationship management experience involving a range of policy and Māori development work
- A demonstration of experience in successfully working and engaging with iwi, government, community, and public interest groups.
- Ability to influence, persuade and inspire others to achieve results.
- Able to demonstrate the proven ability to work collaboratively to develop and maintain effective relationship.
- The proven skills to empower and enhance the mana of others
- Experience in the design and delivery of cultural competency programmes
