Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking qualified applicants for a permanent full time Social Work position based within the Child Development Service. CDS is looking to appoint an experienced social worker to provide comprehensive and effective social work assessment and intervention for patients and their families and whanau to promote and support the best possible health outcomes, interdependence, autonomy and dignity of life.
This is a full time position, based at Puketiro Centre, Porirua, but the applicant would need to be available to work on all Child Development sites across the region (Wellington to Kapiti).
To support families effectively the Social Worker will require a level of clinical knowledge of health and disability sufficient to undertake profession specific work within the CDS multidisciplinary team, including networks and available community supports in the region. This role will include a focus of working with children and families where a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been made. The role will assist the CDS team to provide ASD service coordination to children and young people up to the age of 19 years across the Wellington region for those who meet the inclusion criteria for the ASD Coordination Service Specifications.

CDS is a multi-disciplinary team providing specialist developmental assessments and interventions for children who have, or are at risk of, an intellectual, sensory or physical disability and children with an autism spectrum disorder. We use a holistic approach to enable children with disabilities to reach their maximum potential within their families and extended environment. Team work is an essential part of the role, working collaboratively with medical and allied health professionals.
Moū - About you
We are seeking qualified applicants. Current Annual Practicing Certificate from SW Board. Membership of Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers, Professional Association is desirable. Experience working with families of children with disabilities is desirable.
