Safety Advisor

This is your chance to work on an iconic part of Wellington's harbour waterfront. More people than ever are cycling in and around Wellington, and Te Ara Tupua is working with our mana whenua partners, protecting the coastal environment, and creating a great walking and cycling option for people in our region. More people walking and cycling will improve public health, help reduce emissions and ease the pressure on other modes of transport.

The Te Ara Tupua Alliance consists of Waka Kotahi - NZTA, HEB Construction, Downer NZ, Tonkin & Taylor, and Iwi mana whenua, and we are now looking to appoint a** Safety Advisor** to play a key part in the alliance.

**The role**:
Working closely with the Safety Manager, our Safety Advisor will be responsible for implementing the whole-person step change approach to safety we have enacted, and will be always be looking to increase people's capabilities to be safer - during the project and beyond.

We are looking for somebody who can 'coach', rather than 'tell' when it comes to working with our people on safety.
- An in-depth understanding and knowledge of safety in large scale construction
- Excellent investigative and reporting skills, working to ensure all investigations, documentation, and reporting is completed to a high standard.
- Strong people skills, with an ability to work with, and coach our construction teams on implementing and maintaining safety standards
- Excellent communication skills - this role will a lead in bringing people on to our project, via our Whanaungatanga - induction programme.
- The ability to champion safety related initiatives and programmes on the project. Being visible out in the field with our crews is an important part of this role.
- An understanding and appreciation for Tikangi Māori, and an ability to work with all stakeholders to ensure optimal safety outcomes
