**Intro**:
Appetise is where food and data meet. We help over 100,000 Aussies & Kiwis every week **discover, plan, shop, and cook** better meals - with more than **3,500 tried-and-loved recipes** designed to make dinner time easier, cheaper, and more inspiring.
Think meal kit simplicity, with supermarket prices. Appetise automatically builds shopping baskets, so users can go from recipe to checkout in just a few taps.
Behind the scenes, Appetise is also a discovery and insights platform for FMCG brands. By connecting recipes to real supermarket baskets, we help brands see how their products are used, when people switch, and what trends are bubbling up in real kitchens.
It’s food meets data, delighting home cooks while giving brands a live view into what’s really cooking across Australia & NZ.
We’re a team of 17 across NZ and Sydney, moving fast with big ambitions. And now, we're looking for a **Product Analyst** who can help us turn big ideas into validated, high-impact product launches.
**About the Role**:
As our **Product Analyst**, your mission is simple and critical:
**Turn vision into validated product decisions that unlock growth, alignment, and world-class user experiences.**
You’ll work closely with our CEO, Design, Engineering, Marketing, and GTM teams to:
- Translate product vision into clear, testable directions
- Validate assumptions early with data and real users
- Keep the product roadmap sharp, prioritised, and aligned
- Ensure we launch the _right_ things, fast, and measure whether they worked
This is an execution-focused role. You’re the connective tissue that turns strategy into action, helps teams move with clarity, and keeps us building products users genuinely want.
Perfect for you if:
You’re a curious, data-literate, design-aware product thinker who loves working fast, testing ideas early, and collaborating deeply across teams.
The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $160,000
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Turn Vision Into Product Direction (35%)**:
- Translate high-level ideas from our CEO into **clear product specs, hypotheses, and test plans**.
- Validate assumptions early using **data, interviews, prototypes, and experiments**.
- Ensure every major decision is grounded in **clarity and customer insight**.
- Bring structure and focus to product discussions to keep the team aligned and moving.
**2. Drive Discovery & Validation (25%)**:
- Lead lightweight, fast product discovery across new and existing features.
- Identify real user problems and test solutions quickly - before engineering invests heavily.
- Collaborate closely with Design to turn ideas into **wireframes, prototypes, and UX flows**.
- Run usability tests and customer interviews to ensure we build what actually works.
**3. Own Product Measurement & Insights (20%)**:
- Track adoption, retention, feature usage, and success metrics.
- Diagnose what’s driving engagement, and what’s slowing users down.
- Work with Engineering and Marketing to **set up analytics, instrumentation, and dashboards**.
- Turn insights into actionable recommendations that improve UX and product performance.
**4. Maintain a Clear Roadmap & Backlog (15%)**:
- Keep the roadmap **updated, prioritised, and aligned** with business goals.
- Write crisp, actionable specs that give Design and Engineering clarity.
- Bring transparency, momentum, and structure to cross-functional workflows.
- Ensure we’re working on the right things, and saying “not now” to the rest.
**5. Cross-Functional Collaboration (5%)**:
- Partner deeply with Design, Engineering, Marketing, and GTM.
- Communicate openly, frequently, and clearly. No surprises, no silos.
- Keep teams aligned through updates, clarity of reasoning, and shared outcomes.
**Who You Are**:
You’ll thrive in this role if you’re:
- **Discovery & validation native -** confident testing ideas through data, interviews, prototypes, and experiments.
- **Execution-focused** - you help teams move fast with clarity, not sit in vision-land.
- **Data-literate** - comfortable digging into adoption, retention, churn, and feature performance.
- **Design-fluent** - you can talk UX, understand good product patterns, and collaborate with designers smoothly.
- **Technically conversant** - comfortable discussing trade-offs with engineers.
- **Collaborative & transparent** - you bring people along, not decisions down from above.
- **Startup-tough** - you thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and prefer iteration over over-planning.
- **Curious about AI** - and skilled at leveraging it to move faster.
**Experience Level**:
- 3-6+ years as a **Product Manager,** **Product Analyst** or hybrid role.
- Strong experience in **early-stage** or **high-growth** startups. End-to-end ownership of product launches, from discovery delivery
