Established in 1995, our client Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora provides quality health, education, and social services within the rohe of Tūwharetoa i te Aupouri and the Eastern Bay of Plenty communities that reflects te taha tinana, te taha hinengaro, te taha wairua me te taha whānau. We are looking for a Kāupapa Māori Rangatahi Alcohol and Drugs Practitioner for the early intervention team.

**He aha te tūnga | About the role**:
The purpose of this role is to ensure that services are being seamlessly delivered to rangatahi by reducing the harm caused by alcohol and drug use, and those with a physical dependency can detoxify safely. The plans and stratergies you implement will include access to brief interventions for relapse and follow-up and prevention measures that intervene with potential substance abuse problems.

**Key responsibilities of the role**:

- Implement intervention strategies to reduce high needs rangatahi to lower-level needs
- Work collaboratively, utilising empowerment models focusing on strengths whilst addressing needs and addressing challenges
- Ensure community based assessment and treatment services are provided including drug and alcohol treatment, therapy and support, case management and integrated care for Rangatahi experiencing co-existing problems of addiction and mental health
- Ensure whānau are connected with the appropriate follow up interventions, support and wrap around pathways
- Facilitate access to support services, arrange referrals to external agencies
- Complete reporting requirements, ensuring strict client confidentiality

The role requires an experienced practitioner. Therefore, we are seeking those who meet the following requirements:
Experience in the following fields;
- Kaupapa Māori MHA
- Mental Health Services
- Alcohol and Other drugs
- Government or NGO social services
- Child and/or health services
- Justice system
- Whānau Violence
- Strength based and Recovery based practices
- Extensive relationships with whānau, hapū and Iwi within the Kawerau and surrounding communities
- Whānau Ora wrap around experience
- Current registration to a relevant professional health body (Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, DAPAANZ, AOD)
- Risk Assessment and Management Experience
- Progress Reporting competency
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, team building and conflict resolution skills
- De-escalation and Trauma Management experience
- Current, full NZ Drivers Licence
- Strong knowledge of TKKH and the Eastern Bay of Plenty Communities
- Familiarity with Toi Kairakau Kaupapa Māori MHA providers
- Excellent computer literacy skills, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office functions
