**Position Purpose**
To provide high-quality, patient-centered medical care under the supervision of a General Practitioner, contributing to the delivery of comprehensive primary health services to the community. The Physician Associate (PA) supports the general practice team by performing clinical assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, promoting preventive health, and ensuring continuity of care.
**Key Responsibilities**
Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive history taking, physical examinations, and appropriate investigations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions under GP supervision.
- Formulate and implement management plans, including prescribing and ordering diagnostic tests (within delegated authority).
- Provide wound care, vaccinations, minor procedures, and health assessments as required.
- Support patients in self-management, health education, and preventive care strategies.
- Participate in recalls, care planning, and follow-up of patients with long-term conditions.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Participate in case discussions, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical meetings.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the wider healthcare team.
Administration & Documentation
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation using Medtech Evolution
- Ensure coding, recalls, and referrals are completed accurately.
- Adhere to practice policies, professional standards, and privacy/confidentiality requirements.
Professional Development
- Maintain current registration with the **New Zealand Physician Associate Society (NZPAS)** or equivalent body.
- Engage in continuing medical education (CME) and supervision meetings as required.
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 per week
