Orchard Assistant

Monavale Blueberries is New Zealand's largest certified organic blueberry orchard. Located just 10 minutes drive from Cambridge and 25 minutes from Hamilton. We are currently looking for a **skilled **and **experienced ORCHARD ASSISTANT **to join our team starting in June / July.

This is a permanent, full time position. Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. Some weekend work is required during the summer harvest.

The work is mainly outdoors and at times may be physically demanding. Tasks include:

- pest and disease monitoring and identification
- irrigation control
- weeding
- scrub cutting
- pruning
- grading/packing/dispatch/quality control
- planting
- operation of machinery
- general maintenance

The successful applicant will:

- be interested in organic growing
- have experience in a similar role or a horticultural qualification
- be available to work Mon - Fri, plus weekend work when necessary, during the summer harvest
- be physically fit and strong
- be motivated with a can do attitude and willingness and ability to complete tasks
- be able to follow instructions
- be able to work unsupervised
- be accurate and have good numerical skills
- have own transport
- be punctual, reliable and dependable
- be looking for a career in the horticulture industry

Pay: $23.15 - $30.00 per hour
