**ABOUT**THE**ROLE**:
**Working as a Palliative Medicine Advanced Trainee**

Three-year Advanced Training in Palliative Medicine: These posts are a three year Advanced Training rotation at training sites that are accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for the purposes of training in Palliative Medicine. Depending on the rotation, training sites include Auckland City Hospital, North Shore and Middlemore Hospitals and the regional hospices. You need FRACP Part 1 or a Fellowship of another college (Please see Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine) in order to be eligible to apply. There are currently four of these posts in the region which become available when an Advanced Trainee has completed their training requirements.

Doctors will complete six training rotations (usually six months in length) as required by the RACP to qualify as a Specialist in Palliative Medicine and thus vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. **Palliative Care Six Month Registrar Jobs**

These are six-month posts at North Shore, Auckland City, and Middlemore Hospitals (the position is primarily hospital based) that will give you excellent experience in specialist Palliative Medicine, advance care planning, and working within a specialist Palliative Care service. This is ideal for anyone training in General or subspecialty medicine or General Practice. The Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine (RACP) can be completed during these six months if desired.

**ABOUT**YOU**:
**Three-year Advanced Training in Palliative Medicine**
- You will need to have passed the FRACP written exam or be registered to sit the clinical exam for 2025.
- These positions will only be offered to those who have passed the clinical exam and completed basic training. For those completing the exam later this year and should you not pass the exam, you will no longer be eligible for advanced training position and you may be considered for a run allocation.
- Another qualifying fellowship (See Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine and please see RACP).
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Support and assistance with this process is provided.

**Six month Palliative Care registrar jobs in one of the three metro districts for those interested in Palliative Medicine experience as part of their training in another discipline e.g. General Medicine, Specialty Training or General Practice**
- Must be **at least** a Basic Trainee Registrar.
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Support and assistance with this process is provided.
