Make a difference in the lives of rangatahi/youth - become a Transition Support Services Worker for Youth Services in YMCA Taranaki.

This exciting opportunity is a permanent 20 hours per week role for someone who is rangatahi focussed with a passion for making a difference and has flexibility to work weekends and evening hours if required.
- At least 1 years’ experience working with youth or vulnerable people.
- Experience in dealing with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong cultural awareness and understanding of Te Ao Maori me ona Tikanga.
- An understanding of disability, mental health, substance abuse and the impact these can have on young people.
- An understanding of the impact of trauma, adolescent brain development and youth development approaches.
- Knowledge of youth justice court processes and the role of Family Group Conferences preferred.
- Experience in advocating on behalf of rangatahi.
- Experience working with rangatahi from a range of cultures and backgrounds.
- High standard of professionalism and integrity.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of people and services with excellent engagement skills.
- Experience in assessing and developing individual plans for rangatahi, that meet the needs of youth, assessing them to acquire new skills while increasing their confidence and motivation.
- Strict adherence to health and safety standards and procedures.
- Full clean driver’s licence is essential and the ability to drive a manual is essential.
- Resilence with the ability to work under pressure.
- Youth work or relevant qualification preferred but not essential.
- Flexibility to work in different place settings to provide mentoring opportunities through sports, the arts etc and build their cultural awareness and skills.
