**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are looking for a positive, proactive and passionate superstar to empower and support our tauira Māori here at Waipapa Taumata Rau.

As a proactive, energetic and highly collaborative member of our CDES team, you will also contribute to wider central career initiatives and programmes of work, across a student body with diversity in age, ethnicity and courses of study. You will be working closely with our Pacific Career Development and Employability Consultant.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to broaden your experience and career development skills and be part of a strengths-based, values-led team who are committed to continuous learning.

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week role on a permanent basis. The salary range is $74,000 - $84,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

This role will see you work with tauira Māori across all faculties and year levels, providing career support, leading and facilitating workshops, fostering student’s skills and confidence through impactful career workshops and events. You will also be responsible for leading and hosting events that connect students with alumni, employers, and community partners, helping to guide them to align their studies with future career pathways. By facilitating these meaningful connections, you’ll play a key role in empowering students to confidently transition from academic life to the workforce.

**Preferred experience and skills**:

- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, career development, teaching, recruitment or youth development, social work
- Familiarity and confidence with Te Ao Māori, Te Reo, and Tikanga
- A high level of interpersonal skills - able to build genuine connections with students and staff
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing collaboratively as a member of the wider careers team.
- Ability to lead and project manage/organise events from start to completion.
- Experience facilitator, workshop deliveries, public speaking
- Confidence in dealing with a variety of tasks under pressure; demonstrated patience and resilience in a complex work environment.
- A member of CDANZ
- Tertiary qualification in the following areas: careers & employability, education, counselling, HR or equivalent discipline.
