Are you passionate about language access and cultural inclusion? We’re looking for a skilled NZSL Translator to join our team and help bridge communication between New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and English.

**ABOUT US / MŌ MĀTOU**

Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education New Zealand is a nationwide team of teaching, learning and professional services staff who share a passion for delivering high quality education and services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing ākonga and their whānau.

**THE ROLE / TE MAHI**

As an NZSL Translator, you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication and access to information by translating between NZSL and English. You’ll contribute to the development of responsive resources, services, and organisational culture by sharing your linguistic and cultural expertise with staff, ākonga and support teams. This is a permanent, fulltime role and can be based at our Auckland Campus in Kelston or at our Christchurch Campus in Sumner.

This role is more than translation - it’s about fostering professional relationships, upholding strong professional values, and continuously growing your own knowledge and skills. You’ll work in alignment with our strategic direction to support inclusive learning environments for all ākonga.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Translate written and spoken content between NZSL and English.
- Support the development of culturally and linguistically responsive resources and services.
- Provide consultation and guidance to staff and support teams on NZSL and Deaf culture.
- Build and maintain professional relationships across the organisation.
- Engage in ongoing self-review and professional learning.

- Proficiency in both NZSL and English, with demonstrated translation experience.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
