**About The Role:
Due to growth and team expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a **Data Engineer **to join us in our Wellington office. Reporting to Head of Data Operations and Engineering, you will help empower Valocity with the ability to unleash the full potential of its data assets, and to build and sustain exceptional global data services that can thrive on Valocity's current and future state architectures. Utilize modern cloud native architectures and patterns, participate in exciting projects, and develop core skills that will set you up with a great career in data.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the ongoing program of modernisation work to reimplement (not migrate) legacy assets onto the target state technology stack (Azure Databricks Lakehouse).
- Find opportunities to automate manual processes and deliver on them
- Works alongside the Data Platform Architect to develop or extend data pipeline as the business evolves with new sources and partnerships.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with fellow data team members and key business stakeholders
- Assist in developing an internal reference repository of knowledge in the form of a Wiki that is accessible and useable by a wider stakeholder group including Customer and Support teams.
- Assist in the maintenance and implementation of best practice standards for data security and storage.
- Grow and develop, with our assistance your own personal skills and knowledge sets. In order to provide effective and robust solutions for the business.
- Help support and maintain our industry leading insights and reporting platforms.

**Key Requirements**:

- Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or related degree with strong numerical analysis components
- Background in data engineering or operations, reporting and analytics roles would be of benefit.
- An understanding of data modelling with both structured and unstructured data types.
- Good knowledge of SQL and/or Python. Exposure to other data and engineering, visualization and data science tools will be advantageous in particular Power BI.
- Experience working with Azure Data Platform Solutions including but not limited to Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Cognitive Services, Azure Data Factory and Log AnalyticsCompetent in Microsoft Office suite of Productivity Applications.
- Used source code control (Git) and some knowledge of CI/CD frameworks.
- Research and fact-based approach to problem solving evidenced with data.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to produce excellent work for clients and internal needs.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation.
- A strong team player with a “can do” attitude and willingness to share ideas and skills.
- Has a strong sense of curiosity and is wanting to develop and stretch their skills sets.
- Proactive and energetic self-manager exemplifying a professional manner in all that you do. Able to manage multiple projects at the same time.
