New Zealand Starch Limited is looking for an Operational leader to drive Safety, Quality and Efficiency. This role is earmarked for a self-motivated individual who wants the ability to drive their career.

As an integral part of the Production Team, this position has full responsibility for leading and inspiring a diverse workforce covering all operations on the site.

The position will report directly to the Production Manager.

**Some of the Key Duties**:

- Leader of Health and Safety
- Leading all production plant processes.
- Ensuring correct operational practices are followed and implementation of improvements to these.
- Optimising efficiencies (production rates, material usage, energy) and minimising waste.
- Leading breakdown and process problem troubleshooting & response coordination.
- Leading Confined Space Entry requirements for plant staff.
- Driving improvement of key parameters and production output.
- Supervising production requirements during maintenance shuts.
- Assisting with any other Production Department requirements.

**Your Experience**:

- Food engineering degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with GMP standards and food manufacturing environment
- Health and Safety Focussed
- Experience in leading a group, including developing multi-skilled team members.
- High standard of literacy and numeracy to investigate and report on operational matters.
- Ability to lead by example, delegate, and work collaboratively.
- Have strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- It is advantageous to be trained and certified for Confined Space Entry, Hazardous Substance Handling, Working at Heights, and fork Hoist Operation.
