Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Every year too many people die or are seriously injured on our roads. We work to reduce this number as these losses have a huge impact on whānau, friends and our communities. The Principal Marketing Advisor, working in collaboration with a range of internal and external partners, is part of a team that develops, delivers and manages a range of high-profile evidence-based marketing-led campaigns and initiatives to address complex social and behavioural issues. Promoting good road user choices, the programme strives to drive long-term sustainable social and behaviour change. The Principal Marketing Advisor also supports the Marketing Manager to build capability and drive integration across the wider education and marketing programme, across Waka Kotahi and across our partners in support of our vision - an Aotearoa where no one is killed or seriously injured on our roads. Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in this role, you will:

- Have at least ten years of experience in marketing roles, ideally within a government context
- Have led the design, development and delivery of complex campaigns and initiatives, ideally with a social and behaviour change focus
- Have a deep understanding of research practices and the use of data and insights to shape campaigns and initiatives
- Have experience working with external suppliers, such as creative and media agencies, including working with budgets
- Have accomplished communications and relationship skills
- Be strategically minded, creatively inclined and adept at planning and organising
- Be a trusted pair of hands that embraces working collaboratively across and within teams and is comfortable providing leadership and guidance to support others with complex and ambiguous situations
- Bring your attention to detail, a can-do attitude, a high level of initiative and sound judgement
- Bring curiosity, a sense of humour and your passion to make a difference for all New Zealanders
- Ideally, have experience working with Māori and Pacific communities to create and deliver relevant and appropriate campaigns and initiatives.
