**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Clinical Advisor is tasked with providing the senior clinical advisory and leadership function in their life course team. The Clinical Advisor has strong relationship management skills, problem solving and systems thinking skills, including change and influence skills. They provide clinical knowledge, expertise, and leadership as, where and when required, supporting quality improvement, service development, innovation, quality assurance for the assisted dying service.

The Clinical Advisor provides support to assisted dying practitioners and is available for discussing case specific challenges or offers support following the delivery of an assisted death.

Supported by the Manager Autonomy, the Clinical Advisor and provides high level clinical SME for relevant projects and Assisted Dying related tasks, such as OIA's or public queries.

A close working relationship with the Assisted dying secretariat and the Office of the Registrar (assisted dying) and other agencies are a vital part in this role.

- A relevant clinical professional qualification.
- You will need to draw on experience in providing clinical governance and advice into key system and service redesign within the life course area in varied environments including:

- Demonstrated experience in providing clinical governance across clinical services.
- Recognised as a senior clinical advisor, including participation in research and or other clinical learning environments.
- Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across clinicians, wider sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples.
- The ability to compellingly communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
