Head of Finance Transformation and Systems

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

Reporting directly to the CFO and as a key member of the Finance Leadership Team (FLT), you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the finance transformation and systems programs to drive strategic financial initiatives for Westpac New Zealand as well as embedding consistency in key deliverables that the CFO and FLT are accountable for.

You will uplift the FLT in all facets with a particular focus on embedding and delivering the Finance Vision through the creation of an executable roadmap, clear milestones and accountabilities, which will be successfully delivered within the agreed timeframes. The finance transformation execution strategy will be leader-led and will have ‘people at the centre’ of everything we do.

This position will provide leadership, direction and expertise in the development and implementation of initiatives that optimise finance systems and processes, driving increased efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of financial services.

You will actively support the CFO to enhance their capacity and effectiveness by:

- Providing strategic advice, data and insights to enable agile and efficient decision making.
- Measuring progress to celebrate successes and allow realignment of activity to deliver agreed goals.
- Improve the transparency of performance via effective operational reporting and performance management including an Objectives and Key Results framework and measures.
- Collaborate across the FLT to ensure the transformation plan is executed successfully with clear accountabilities.
- Plan and run Finance Strategy Days, FLT offsites and All in Finance engagements.
- Identifying, evaluating and recommending key areas for improvement around data, process and technology solutions to support and deliver a transformation programme.
- Leading and overseeing Finance systems and process improvement projects, ensuring successful delivery of projects within agreed timelines, budget and quality parameters.

- Deep experience in developing and delivering strategy within large organisations.
- Extensive experience in analysing and interpreting trends and data to make business decisions and support strategy development.
- Deep experience managing the finance operations for a large business unit or organisation.
- Experience in helping lead, shape and support collaborative, psychologically safe and high performance cultures.
- Ability to influence and mentor Senior Leaders.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage team members across the organisation.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
