Supporting a school aged child & whānau - Autism & ADHD Awareness would be beneficial - Weekdays and weekend shifts (regular or casual) **Job Description**: We are hiring for a 20-30 hour per week position to be filled for a self-aware, physically fit housekeeper, caregiver, and disability support worker with ADHD and Autism awareness to assist with the care of a 7-year-old girl with Angelman Syndrome. **Requirements**: - Positive, friendly, and organised. - Good verbal communication, smart presentation, and welcoming professional courteous manner. - Ability to focus and prioritise on the task at hand. - Attention to detail when reading and writing handover notes. - Can take directions and follow instructions. - Work independently with excellent time management, and alongside others in a team. - You will play an essential part in contributing a positive impact as part of a close-knit team enabling a young child to lead her best life. Our client is independently mobile but prone to ‘escaping’, climbing, and falling due to an ataxic gait. You need to be quick on your toes to redirect and assist. Behavioural strategies are in place, and constantly evolving. She likes to be picked up, and some lifting is required when assisting with personal cares and taxi wheelchair transfer (She is about 20 kg). She is playful, and discerning. She loves music, dancing, drawing, going for walks to the park, and adventures in the van. She is sociable and empathetic, likes to solve problems, be included, and include others. She loves her food but has strict dietary requirements that must be followed. The parents work from home a few days a week, so you need to be chill and able to work alongside, with, and around them, and when they are not at home you need to be confident to be fully sole-charge. You will have a parent or another nanny work alongside you until you are trained. Tasks and duties The job is varied which breaks up the day nicely. Duties are organised by shift times, variable depending on which day of the week. On a school day, you will be "getting the house in order" cleaning, laundry, tidying up, a bit of admin, meal prep... all the things that need taken care of to keep a household running and be ready to receive the child when she arrives home. You will be there to greet her, help her out of the taxi, eat some kai, change out of her school uniform, play, draw, watch telly, relax, and bath and bedtime routine. (Routines change based on child and family needs or preferences). Weekday shifts include (Monday and Wednesday): 7 am-9 am Assist in the shower, breakfast, getting dressed, and personal cares - brush teeth and hair; hang out together until school taxi pick up. Tidy up. 12 pm-2 pm Meal prep, after-school routine prep. 2 pm-5 pm Greet her at taxi, assist with eating, personal cares, after-school routine activities, rolling in to settling for nap/bedtime. Tidy up. 5 pm-9 pm Being in the house, completing small tasks, and tending to the child when she wakes. Giving parents respite. Weekend shifts include: Saturday 7.30am-10.30am Assist in the shower, breakfast, getting dressed, and personal cares, activities at home Saturday 12pm-4pm*** Meal prep and lunch, activities at home with our client and their family or community-based activities including family outings. Additional requirements Excellent verbal communication skills Previous experience as a caregiver/support worker with similar clients The legal right to work in NZ Energetic, initiative, and a good sense of humour To be reliable, punctual, honest and caring
