**0.8 FTE / 32hrs week**

We are seeking two _Ophthalmology_ specialists to join our team at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay (formally known as Hawke’s Bay District Health Board) situated in Hastings, New Zealand. This secondary level, 400 bed accredited public hospital provides acute and elective care for our region of over 162,000 people.

Applications are invited for _two permanent positions_. The successful applicants will have a wide range of experience in general ophthalmology as well as sub-specialty training in either:

- Position 1. Medical Retina_
- Position 2. Paediatrics and strabismus, cornea and anterior segment or neuro-ophthalmology._

You will join our expanding team of six Ophthalmologists and three registrars. Glaucoma, medical retina and oculoplastics are currently represented at a sub-specialty level. Ophthalmology is supported by an orthoptist, specialist ophthalmic nurses and ophthalmic technicians in both the outpatient clinic and operating theatre. We run optometrist and nurse led glaucoma clinics, registrar led minor procedure and laser clinics, and we currently have one nurse injector for avastin clinics.

Hawke’s Bay Ophthalmologists have a collegiate attitude and an active commitment to ongoing education. Monthly continuing medical education meetings are held and ongoing audit is actively encouraged. A generous budget is allocated to attend meetings and courses in New Zealand and overseas.

Applicants must be registered or eligible for vocational registration as a specialist Ophthalmologist with the New Zealand Medical Council. Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology (RANZCO) is helpful.
