**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters & Flood Resilience department is dedicated to managing, planning, and developing stormwater systems to protect our environment. We work collaboratively with iwi and communities to ensure the life-supporting capacity of water, aligning with Auckland’s Climate Plan.

We are seeking passionate and motivated interns to join our team. As a Healthy Waters & Flood Resilience Intern, you will support our communication and content initiatives, helping to engage and inform Aucklanders about our stormwater projects, water quality initiatives, and public safety education.

You will work on
- Content Creation: Develop engaging content for various platforms, including our Safeswim website and community outreach materials.
- Communication Support: Assist in managing requests for information and services related to the public stormwater network, waterways, and harbours.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with the team to educate and inform the public about stormwater management and water quality initiatives.
- Project Assistance: Support the planning and execution of stormwater projects and community-led initiatives.

**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**

Embark on a journey of professional growth and hands-on experience with the Auckland Council Internship Programme. Designed for students in their penultimate year of a bachelor's degree, or in a continued masters programme, this paid three-month summer internship, running from 18 November 2024 to 14 February 2025, offers full-time work that aligns with your field of study.

You'll engage in meaningful work, contributing to the development of Auckland as a world-class city, while receiving career development opportunities.

As an intern, you'll be immersed in a supportive environment, with mentorship and networking opportunities that pave the way for a potential future within the council. You’ll be part of Auckland Council’s internship whānau and will be supported every step of the way by a team who want you to succeed including a buddy, liaison, Careers Team, and the wider intern cohort.

Upon completion, interns may receive priority consideration for the Graduate Programme, setting the stage for a robust career start.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You are a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a budding interest in environmental management and sustainability. Your strong communication and writing skills allow you to create engaging content that can reach a wide audience. You enjoy working in a team and are eager to learn from experienced professionals.

You have some experience or familiarity with digital content creation and social media platforms, and you are keen to develop these skills further.
- Be in your penultimate year studying towards a relevant Bachelor's degree, or continuing into a Master’s level of study in 2025.
