Public Health Medicine Registrar

Taranaki Base Hospital, New PlymouthFull time, 12 month training position The registrar will be sited at the Public Health Unit in New Plymouth but may at times be required to carry out project work in different locations such as the DHB Planning and Funding Department, within Te Paharakeke, Primary Health Organisation, Territorial Local Authority, community settings, or an Iwi Authority. Applicants need to have registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, hold a current practicing certificate, have a Master of Public Health (or equivalent), and are formally enrolled with the New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine training programme and have been accepted for advanced training. This job will suit an advanced trainee who communicates well, thinks outside the square, is passionate about eliminating health disparities, can work across agency boundaries with stakeholders communities and people, and wants to make a difference. Our primary goal as a Public Health Unit is to be acknowledged as a champion of health equity in Taranaki who is not afraid to tackle those complex public health problems that require new ways of working and problem solving.
