Are you passionate about delivering accurate, timely, and people-focused payroll services? We’re looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our People, Culture and Wellbeing team at Toi Ohomai. In this critical role, you’ll manage and deliver end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring compliance with legislation and employment agreements while supporting a positive kaimahi experience.

You’ll work collaboratively across the organisation, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and providing expert guidance on payroll matters. Your attention to detail, analytical capability, and commitment to service excellence will help uphold the integrity of our payroll systems and data.

The directorate leads strategic and operational delivery across human resources, organisational development and equity, payroll and wellbeing and safety.

**Ngā mahi | Key Responsibilities**
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legislative and contractual obligations.
- Provide expert advice and responsive support to kaimahi and leaders on payroll-related queries, entitlements, and employment conditions.
- Collaborate with People, Culture and Wellbeing, Finance, and other teams to uphold data integrity and ensure seamless integration of payroll systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and cross-functional projects that support service excellence and a positive employee experience.

- Technical proficiency, with advanced skills in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel, and a commitment to continuous improvement through professional development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proactive, customer-focused approach and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Cultural competence and commitment to equity, including understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and supporting the use of te reo Māori, tikanga, and mātauranga Māori in the workplace.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and vocational education excellence.
