About the role
We’re strengthening and expanding our ICT Architecture Practice to ensure we have fit for purpose technology solutions which support our strategic objectives and enable ‘Our Business’. We have an exciting new opportunity for a capable and experienced Enterprise architect who is energetic and enthusiastic to join our new team.

Reporting to the Manager Enterprise and Solutions Architecture, you will be providing a range of Enterprise Architecture services that seek to bring to life Policing’s vision for the future. This is a key role in enabling Police to deliver on our strategic and operational outcomes.

The primary responsibility of the Enterprise Architect is to steer the overall success of technical Architecture and the long-term direction of technology through the creation, maintenance, promotion of architecture artefacts, processes and roadmaps. You will be a major contributor in the shape and definition of enterprise solutions for Police that meet the business and sector needs, ensuring it complies with Government standards, Police’s standards, ICT principles, technology governance, and guidelines.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Significantly contribute to the overall technology enterprise architecture.
- Research and review technologies in the marketplace to understand where they might add value for Police and to shape our future technology direction
- Produce and maintain clear and concise artefacts that communicate and inform the future direction of our technologies at an enterprise level to a wide range of senior stakeholders.

About You
- Demonstrated Enterprise Architect experience across a broad range of large-scale business and agencies, ideally within government.
- In-depth practical understanding of traditional and modern architectures and designs within a large-scale enterprise.
- You are likely to have an in-depth knowledge into a range of architecture domains such Data, Cloud, Application, Security or Integration and the experience to understand how they all connect
- Excellent verbal and written communication, a real communicator capable of effectively communicating with all levels including business stakeholders, architects, operational staff and vendors
- People skills - you work well with a wide range of personalities and have the ability to collaborate with a diverse team
- A relevant Architectural / business qualification, or equivalent experience
- You’re a master in seeing the big picture. You’ll understand multiple stakeholder propositions or pain points and work with the team to imagine the best way to achieve everything

Key Skills
- Ability to work through architecture governance structures to assess and recommend most suitable solution options
- Peer review HLD and DD created by other groups ensuring they are of a standard to be presented to the architecture governance forum
- Provide leadership to product teams and development teams
- Understand and document the current state architecture using the adopted Enterprise Architecture standard
- Demonstrated experience incorporating security, recovery, audit, availability, performance, and operational monitoring into solution design including alignment to NZISM
- Show a good understanding of and experience with using architecture frameworks and methods such as TOGAF
- Extensive and demonstrable experience in the production of architectural strategies and standards

Special requirements
- Must reside in the Wellington region, or be willing to relocate
- Be a NZ Permanent Resident or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa
- Be able to obtain and maintain a high level of security clear
