**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting two Kaiwhakatere Tautoko Kahukura - Rainbow Support Navigators to join the Mana Taurite me te Oranga Tauira - Student Equity and Wellbeing team on a fixed-term, part time contract from 12 January 2026 - 27 November 2026. The hours are Monday-Friday either 9am-12:45pm or 12:30pm-4:15pm. This is an in-person role with the ability to work from home one day a fortnight.

The Navigators are the key point of contact for rainbow and takatāpui students who want to connect with support, advice, and community.

The Navigators warmly welcome students and support their wellbeing, sense of belonging, and success. They curate regular communication and host community building events.

The Navigators closely collaborate with student leader and staff partners, including providing training to increase the rainbow inclusion confidence of our University community.

Key responsibilities:

- Warmly welcome students with exemplary customer service that reflects our kaupapa and the diverse needs of our community. Identify any needs they have and connect them with internal and external support.
- Provide quality services, support, resources, and curate the rainbow room space.
- Keep clear and accurate records, upholding the privacy of students.
- Provide regular social media, newsletter, and events content to ensure students are well informed and have a sense of belonging.
- Provide training and resources for professional and academic staff, and student leaders to increase the rainbow inclusion confidence of our University community.
- Work closely with student leaders, academic staff, and staff in key partner services to support student wellbeing and success.

**Ō pūmanawa - About you**

You will be a motivated person, with a strong understanding of the needs of Rainbow people, who enjoys providing support and wants to make a positive difference doing meaningful work.

Key requirements:

- A current Te Herenga Waka post graduate student, or recent University graduate.
- Strong experience with, and understanding of, the needs of Rainbow people (LGBTQIA+, Takatāpui, MVPFAFF+).
- Ability to provide empathetic, culturally responsive support to students with diverse identity and wellbeing needs.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working with people in a support, mentoring, or advisory capacity.
- Strong presentation and events experience.
