The RCTS Outpatient Charge Nurse is responsible for the day to day provision of nursing care in the Oncology Day Unit and outpatient clinics for the specialties of Clinical Haematology, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology. Our nursing team is integral to the care provided in these specialist areas.
This role is central to the coordination of patients receiving outpatient chemotherapy and supportive treatment and works closely with the Charge Nurse, Ward 23 to ensure coordinated patient flow across the service.
The role is responsible for the organisation and monitoring of patient focused cancer nursing care, taking responsibility for:
- Overseeing the booking of patients within expected timeframes
- Day to day coordination of staff and patient flow across clinics and the oncology day unit
- The management of complex patients and acute/unplanned clinical situations
- Assist with the management of patient complaints / concerns
- Participating in development opportunities that enhance the RCTS outpatient experience, operation and efficiency.
You will be expected to have, or work towards CVAD certification and chemotherapy administration competence within the first six months of employment - full support will be given to achieve this. There is also opportunities and support for ongoing professional development and education.
Professional and operational leadership and support will be provided by the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Operational Lead. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Nurse wishing to progress into a nursing leadership position.
Nurses with advanced patient assessment skills, proven leadership ability, quality improvement experience, excellent communication skills and computer knowledge, and who enjoy working in a supportive, team environment are invited to apply.
