About this opportunity*
Pact Packaging Wellington (formerly Flight Plastics), has now closed the loop for recycling PET packaging in New Zealand, and this material is available to our Australian customers as well
The Sales Manager is responsible for delivering agreed sales and gross margin targets across Fresh Foods.
This is done by ensuring all sales and marketing resources are deployed and managed in a manner consistent with agreed current and future targets and by ensuring all other departments have the necessary information and are in agreement to assist with the obtaining of those targets.

Area of Responsibility*
The day-to-day management of the Sales and Customer Services team (4 direct reports) to ensure suitable customer contact levels are maintained in a manner compatible with established company objectives and values.
Key areas of accountability:

- Ensuring success of NZ PET circular economy in packaging
- The recommendation of pricing strategy including (increases and decreases) to ensure gross contribution targets are achieved and maximised.
- Regular key account contact in conjunction with the assigned Account/Business Unit Manager to ensure satisfaction of service levels and to demonstrate senior management commitment to that account.
- Ownership of Key Accounts and delegation of other accounts and their management across the sales team.
- Motivation and leadership of direct reports and their performance.
- In conjunction with the Planner/Scheduler the provision of adequate forecasting data and its input to ensure forecast accuracy and stock targets are met and improved upon, full involvement in SOP process.
- Identification, researching and recommendation of new business opportunities to provide the platform for future business growth.
- Managing the use of marketing tools, techniques and methods to maximise awareness amongst target markets.

Your skills and experience:*
- Business to Business Sales Experience (>10yrs)
- New business development experience and success in an industrial environment
- People Management
- Packaging experience

You are an experienced Sales Manager with the following attributes:

- Strong personal leadership and relationship skills
- Resilient and self-driven
- Knows how to make a buck
- Seasoned professional able to deputise for the Business Unit Manager on senior sales matters where necessary
- Track record of achieving results through others i.e. ability to effectively lead Sales & Customer Service team
- Strong sense of customer focus balanced with company needs
- Negotiation skills and persuasive sales techniques
- Strategic thinker
- “Can do will do” attitude
- Good presentation skills both verbal, written and electronic
- Understanding of cost and management accounting
- Marketing knowledge
- Analytical
- Team Player and equal participant in senior manager forums.

- Business Degree
- Plastics Industry knowledge
- Experience working with Local Government including 3rd party tenders
