Mount Maunganui, New Zealand The Creative Store Full time

Our client is a proudly New Zealand made fashion retailer, based in Bay of Plenty, and looking for a skilled Fashion Designer to join their team.
You will work closely with the Creative Designer with the design and fit of garments, including identifying trends, selecting styles, fabrics, colours, prints and trims for a collection. You will manage the company buyer to ensure all shoes, accessories and other label buy in’s will achieve their desired styling each collection. You will also be managing the company merchandiser to ensure the design and brand vision is achieved at the store level each new week.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Working with the Creative Director on the design process from conception through to final styling
- Participate in meetings to discuss designs and line development, present and review line and concepts regularly
- Conducting market research to identify new trends, fabrics, and techniques, and seeking design inspiration
- Collaborating with team members to select seasonal themes, make edits to line, and create new concepts
- Ensuring product agrees with business strategy
- Work with Finance to cost out all the components needed for a garment’s production
- Selecting fabrics and trims
- Creating production sketches for development packages
- Reviewing product for style and fit
- Presenting story, mood, colour boards, and samples to the company buyer
- Maintaining relationships with vendors, suppliers, and models
- Work with the company buyer to identify key other label buy in’s and ensure they arrive in time for photoshoots and collection launches. Ensure the buyer keeps to the KPI’s and budgets
- Work with the company merchandiser to ensure that the collection is merchandised on the dollies and rails each week. Ensure the merchandiser visits stores each month and hits the KPI’s and budgets
- Support and present on lives each week where design knowledge and focus are required
- Appear on social media to communicate design intention to the customers
- Train fashion on creative clicks as required
- Brainstorm, plan, and present creative ideas to achieve marketing and sales directives at each marketing meeting
- Assist with the look feel, feel and location of all photoshoots
- Assist in successful execution of every photoshoot to achieve the look and intended objectives
- Travel to all stores quarterly to train store teams on the latest fashion and how to put it together.
- Work in store with store team members when there to learn about the store and customer needs. Feedback to Directors each visit.

**Skills, Experience and Qualifications**
- Degree in Fashion/Textile Design
- A broad knowledge of fabrics materials and accessories
- Design and visualization skills
- A sound technical understanding of garment construction and manufacture
- Pattern making skills
- Design software skills in Illustrator and photoshop
- Commercial orientation and market awareness
