Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
As the Regulatory Authority Lead, within the Regulated Products Team, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of the Tobacco and Vaping Regulatory Authorities. Your extensive expertise and exceptional leadership skills will be vital in shaping the development, supervision, and implementation of both new and existing legislation pertaining to smoked tobacco and vaping products.
You will provide strategic leadership for the day-to-day activities of the VRA and the TRA, adhering to best regulatory practices. As a member of the Regulated Products management team, you will actively contribute to the overall management of the team, ensuring the formulation and execution of effective strategies and services that align with the Ministry's overarching objectives.
In this role, you will also serve as a role model for the desired culture and values of the Ministry, fostering an environment that reflects our commitment to equity and upholding Treaty obligations. Your dedication to these principles will be pivotal in guiding the team towards achieving our goals and maintaining a strong sense of accountability and fairness in all aspects of our work.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- An appropriate tertiary qualification and/or significant relevant work experience in a regulatory policy environment designing and implementing regulatory regimes
- Previous experience in leadership and management of technical or operational policy teams, providing regular mentoring and support as required
- Previous experience working in central government settings with a deep understanding of relevant legislation, public policy, and the machinery of government
- Experience and expertise to influence and support effective decision making, and the ability to identify future risks and opportunities, while developing timely and accurate responses and risk mitigation
