Scanner and Optimiser Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity in our Lumber Division as a Scanner and Optimiser Engineer based at our Whirinaki site in sunny Hawkes Bay.
**About the opportunity**
Working in the Business Improvement team, with like-minded engineers, the Lumber Scanner and Optimiser Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving all scanning and optimisation systems, camera and plant systems administration, preventative maintenance, and project work for all Lumber sites.
Day to day, you will be responsible for monitoring preventative maintenance, establishing and maintaining documentation for all systems, undertaking audits to ensure reliability, availability, quality and performance and provide technical support and expertise to both the engineering and operations teams onsite. As the SME for all scanning and optimisation systems you will - maintain a positive working relationship with all the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM,s) support teams to ensure when required an issue is escalated for their assistance to ensure downtime is minimised.
In addition, you will be involved in the Project Management (PM) of capital and major maintenance projects, as either the lead PM or a technical lead assigned to projects which can range through the entire lifecycle of a project
**About the person**
We're looking for someone who is a great communicator, is calm under pressure and can demonstrate a willingness to go the extra mile for the team.
Along with this you will have the following:
- Bachelor of Information Technology degree desirable but not essential - relevant Diploma, NZCE qualification or appropriate experience also considered
- Minimum of 5 years systems engineering/IT maintenance experience ideally with knowledge of lumber scanning systems (or similar) preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Plant network design and maintenance
- Good IT literacy skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and a high degree of practical competence with PC computer software and hardware will be necessary for you to troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the systems that you are responsible for
- Strong interpersonal, relationship and influencing skills
- Sound judgement with a practical and logical approach to problem solving and handling unforeseen events
