The role

We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Auckland office. You will be an ambitious team player who wishes to assist in the development of innovative, cost effective and buildable solutions in an environment that is collaborative, stimulating and demanding.

With 3+ years of experience in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotech Engineering, you will play a key role in:

- Ensure that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC.
- Collaborate with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables.
- Contribute to the commercial success of projects and the team.
- Ideally have hands on experience of routinely used geotechnical software including gINT; Slope/W; CAD, with Geospatial skills desirable.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of ground conditions and of soil and rock design parameter selection; local knowledge and experience is advantageous.
- Valid driving license is essential.
- Willing to travel to other offices and sites within NZ is essential, and a willing to consider overseas assignments preferred.

Suitable applicants will have/be:

- Bachelor's Degree in a Civil Engineering. Post graduate qualification in Geotech Engineering is desirable, although Engineering Geologists with appropriate design skills will be considered.
- Good industry awareness.
- Ability to manage client relationships and expectations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
- Able to undertake some travel (domestic or international).
