**Ko te kaupapa | About the role**
We provide a range of mental health and addiction services in the community, rural areas and on our Whanganui Hospital campus.
Our Mental Health and Addiction Services works in conjunction with primary health, mental health and addiction non-government organisations (NGOs), Kaupapa Maori services and community agencies to ensure service users/tangata whaiora needs are met in all aspects of their lives.
Our work is strength based and has a recovery approach based on promoting hope, supportive environments, self-responsibility and self-determination while working within the legal and best practice guidelines for professional and New Zealand Health Service standards.
- To provide quality mental health and addictions specialist assessment, intervention, caseload management and evaluation to support service user/tangata whaiora and their family/whanau in recovery.
- To support a whole of health and wellbeing approach to support best outcomes and recovery for people who utilise Te Whatu Ora Whanganui Community Mental Health and Addictions Services (CMHAS) through a range of therapeutically based interventions.
- The position works in accordance with Te Whatu Ora policy of operations and meets professional standards, legislative requirements.

- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong interest in and compassion for the lives and experiences of others.
- Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation.
- Passionate and dynamic advocate for mental health.
- Commitment to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and Whānau Ora principles.
