Matamata-Piako District Council is looking for a highly motivated Refuse Transfer Station Team Leader to join us in working toward our waste management and minimisation goals.

This full time role is based out of our Waihou Depot and reports to the Solid Waste Manager. In this role, you will oversee the efficient and safe operation of our three refuse transfer stations, (Matamata, Morrinsville and Te Aroha) ensuring the smooth flow of waste and recycling.

Together, the three refuse transfer stations operate seven days per week. The hours for this position would be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday and on call every third weekend to provide guidance, support or participate with staff to resolve on-site issues.

**What we are looking for**:
A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role within the waste management or recycling industry.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate teams.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Familiarity with compliance and a commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.

Current holder of a NZ Class 1 full licence.
