Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatāne. We serve a population of approximately 259,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki. Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is one of the Bay of Plenty's largest employers with over 4000 staff.
He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The paediatric service is seeking an inspirational, experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist with a passion for Cardiology. This is an opportunity to work with neonates, tamariki and rangatahi with various Cardiac and congenital problems, to support patients and whanau throughout their care pathway, and be an excellent educational resource.
The paediatric Service works closely with Starship Hospital and a wider MDT so the ability to communicate well and engage with other health professionals is essential.
The successful applicant will work closely with the cardiology paediatrician and engage with other paediatric SMO' across the Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty. The cohort of patients have a high morbidity risk, with well documented associated physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional issues, therefore, your compassion, knowledge and communication skills must be exemplary.
He Kōrero mōu - About You
The successful applicant must demonstrate excellent communication skills from working with the wider MDT and with children, parents, and families. The successful applicant will be competent and confident in the management and administration of medications and have clinical skills to support the delivery of direct patient care. This is a proactive and developing service seeking those with a desire for innovation and service improvement.
You will take a lead in ensuring a seamless service whilst under paediatric care through to transition to adult services.
